Isaiah 6:8a tells us “Who will I send? Who will go for us?” It’s the cry of God going out into all the world. God is looking for people to send! This powerful scripture tells us so much about God. When I was saved, it was a road to Damascus type experience and I have often wondered why God just doesn’t reveal Himself to everyone directly in this way at some point in their life. As I have studied Scripture I have come to realize that God does reveal Himself directly to some people, but with so many others He chooses to use His children to speak on His behalf. He chooses to use Ambassadors!
As Christians we are God’s Ambassadors. He needs us to further and fulfill His Kingdom purposes! As we travel into the nations of the world in this ministry, it’s a humbling thing to be reminded from time to time that we are sent by God Himself. When we go out with His Gospel message, not only do we preach the Gospel, we represent Him to the world.
It’s an awesome responsibility. And God in His own wonderful way works with us! Mark 16:20 tells us “And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.” Just recently we were conducting a Gospel Event in West Papua, Indonesia and Jesus appeared to a young Muslim man and told him to come to our meeting. The Lord was working with us, revealing Himself to this young man and pointing him in the direction of the Gospel message. When we make the determination to obey God and go, He works with us, it’s a humbling and beautiful thing to behold!
God’s cry “Who will go for us?” reveals something of His nature and foreshadows the Gospel. God refers to Himself as “Us.” This “Us” is God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It’s a prophetic insight into the Gospel message. It foreshadows that time when God the Father would send His precious only Son to suffer and die and pay the price for the sin of humanity. God is a sending God. 1 John 3:9 says: “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”
God sent Jesus and today He is still looking for people to send! The Prophet Isaiah had just had a wonderful encounter with the awesomeness and majesty of God. His lips had been touched with a live coal from the altar of the Almighty. He was ready to go. Now maybe God is sending you into the Corporate world to have an impact there, or maybe the education system or some other sphere of influence in this world. Today I want to encourage you there is no greater feeling than knowing you have been sent by God, that you have His blessing and backing.
Romans 8:31-32 tells us “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” God is for you today. He is at work in your life, He is sending you!
