Last month I had the privilege of spending some time with the legendary Healing Evangelist TL Osborn. A group of us spent time with him at his office and then we went out and had lunch together. What amazed me was that at 87 years old all he wanted to talk about with us was the things of God. He was more on fire for God than all of the rest of us combined! I wanted to share with you some of the insights he shared because they were so encouraging for me. The first thing Dr TL talked about was an experience from his early days in ministry. He had just come back from a trip to India very discouraged with the results and he and his wife were Pastoring a small Church in America.

At that time a New Zealand missionary on furlough from his mission in Indonesia, felt God tell him to travel from New Zealand to America to speak to a young couple yet unknown to him. The man went by boat, the Holy Spirit led him to the right town and then the right street and then to the house where TL and his wife Daisy were gardening in the Church parsonage.

What an incredible miracle! The man had a prophetic word for them and introduced them to the writings of EW Kenyon. Dr TL said from that time on EW Kenyon’s writings became his Bible School. I have been reading EW Kenyon in the past week or two and can see how his teaching has had an impact on much of what Dr TL has taught.

I was so encouraged, maybe something good can come out of New Zealand! I told Dr TL I was from New Zealand and he thought it was so funny, he said he couldn’t remember the man’s name but credits him with being a catalyst for breakthrough in his ministry in the early days.

I believe the success of Dr TL’s ministry has been his incredible faith in the Word of God and in the power of the gospel. He said he believes that we Pentecostals need to go deeper into what salvation is, it is a legal thing. Through the finished work of Christ we have the right to claim salvation and healing.

He said if we are saved, then all the other if’s are gone. Salvation is complete, the atonement is a complete work. When Jesus said ‘it is finished’ He meant it. He said we shouldn’t pray for things God has already provided for, or for things He has already told us to do. God has provided for our salvation and healing and we should thank Him for it, standing in faith that He has already given it to us. Jesus told us to go into all the world, this was the last command He gave us before leaving the earth and some of us just need to go!

With regard to healing EW Kenyon puts it so well in his book Jesus the Healer he says (p.17): “It is necessary that there be a continual confession of our redemption from Satan’s dominion and that he no longer rules us with condemnation nor fear of disease. We hold fast to our confession, as our confession is Satan’s defeat.

We believers do not ask to be healed, because we have been healed. We do not ask to be made righteous, because we have been made righteous. In the mind of the Father, we are perfectly healed and perfectly free from sin, because He laid our diseases and our sins upon His Son.

The Word declares that “By His stripes we were healed.” The whole problem is our recognition of the absolute truthfulness of that Word. It is not good taste for us to ask Him to heal us, for He has already done it. The truth came as a shock when I first saw it. He declares we are healed, then our part is to thank Him for the work He has already accomplished.”

Dr TL said that when he gets up to speak he constantly challenges himself with the thought – ‘do you really believe what you are preaching?’ Today I want to leave you with the same challenge, “Do you really that believe by the stripes of Jesus you are healed? Do you you really believe that you have been made righteous by God? ” If you really do, I challenge you to hold fast your profession of faith, without wavering, thank God for what He has already done and watch the God of miracles transform every area of your life.
