Today I want to spend a few moments considering the preciousness of the seed of the Gospel. Psalm 126:6 tells us “Those who go out weeping, carrying precious seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” The Gospel is precious seed! Jesus came into this world sent by the Father as a precious seed.“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” (Romans 8:32) God freely gave us Jesus as a precious seed, this is heart of the Gospel Message!
When we preach the gospel, we need to remember we are sowing precious seed. Over the years I’ve had people come and tell they me were discouraged because they were unable to bring this person or that person to a saving knowledge of Christ. I always encourage them to focus on the fact that they sowed a precious seed. Every time we share with someone about some aspect of the Gospel or show them the love of God through our lives we are sowing precious seeds!
For over eleven years now we have been full time, working tirelessly to present the precious seed of the Gospel in the nations of the world. Many of our supporters have sowed precious financial seed into our ministry to enable us to sow the seed of the Gospel! When we give it represents our time, effort and hard work. We are so mindful that this is precious seed. I believe God watches our giving and watches our hearts when we give.
Mark 12:41-44 tells us: “Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
This widow, sowed all she had into the Kingdom of God. She valued the Kingdom of God above even her own ability to be sustained. That’s faith! That’s precious! Today I want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of our ministry supporters who have sown seed into this ministry to enable us to go out into all the world and so the most precious seed of all, the seed of the Gospel!
