“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
And in Galatians 3:13-14 we are told:
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every One that hangs on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
Today I want to encourage you with the simple truth that God wants to bless you! Before I say anything more, it is critical for all of us to know the foundational truth that nothing qualifies us for the blessing of God other than faith in Christ’s finished work. We need to know that before we know anything else. God wants to bless you because you are His child. Because of Christ’s blood you have been adopted into God’s family, the lineage of Abraham is your lineage and therefore the promise of Abraham is yours by faith.
Like Abraham God wants to bless you so that you can be a blessing to the nations. God wants to bless you in every area of your life, emotionally, spiritually, relationally, financially, every sphere of your life. He wants to bless you so much you can give to others out of the overflow of your life. He wants to bless you so much that nations will be blessed by your life!
And God said to Abraham “Go” and he didn’t specify where, he just said you need to walk by faith and be obedient to Me and I will bless you. And some of us need to be willing to do that! Sometimes there is a comfort zone we all need to be willing to step out of. And Abraham heard God’s voice and obeyed. We we need to hear the voice of God and move when He says move. God blesses those who obey out of a heart of love for Him.
Jesus said to his disciples if you give up everything and come and follow me, I will bless you, He said “everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much in this life and will inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29) God requires much, but he also blesses much! If you sow in tears you will reap in joy, if you lose your life you will keep it!
God wants to take us into our promised land. Sometimes as we begin to enter our promised land we can face some opposition, doubt, fear and discouragement and we can hit a brick wall in our believing. If you are feeling like you have hit a brick wall, I want to encourage you today. God wants to give you fresh courage, fresh inspiration, fresh hope, fresh faith, the kind of faith that will leap over a wall and destroy any obstacle in your path!
The promises of God and the promised land require something of us. Maybe you have heard God speak to you and you are wondering, “What is going on? ” and “Why is there so much opposition?” I want to encourage you, you are still in God’s will, many times opposition goes with the territory! God is training you to hear His voice and believe that He can do what He has said in spite of how impossible things look.
And God made His promise to Abraham out of friendship and intimacy, everything we do for God needs to flow out of friendship and intimacy with God. Covenant is a promise of God’s loving faithfulness. We need to believe God, we need to get deeper into God and we need to allow God to get deeper into us. Everything flows from that place of intimacy.
And God said to go “to a land that I will show you.” There is somewhere God is wanting to take us! He makes a promise and there is a time when is where we begin to walk into that promised land. I believe for many of us, we are in that place now, we are in a season of abundance, we are in a season of harvest and we need to stand and believe God and His word like never before.
And God wants you to have the good of the promised land! He wants to bless you and it doesn’t come without a fight. We are fighting a fight of faith. God wants you to be a fighter, to have bulldog faith, the kind tenacity that says “I choose to believe God no matter how things look!” Allow the Holy Spirit to come to your life today and strengthen you to continue to obey, to continue to stand and believe and inherit all God has promised you.
