Today I would like to encourage you with the truth that “God is with you!” Many times, we use this truth to encourage people they are never alone when they have Jesus in their life. And it’s true, being a Christian doesn’t mean you won’t have troubles, but it does mean you won’t have to face them on your own. Jesus will always be there for you! He will never leave you or forsake you! (Hebrews 13:5b)
When Jesus gave the Great Commission in Matthew 28, He punctuated His Commission, with the assurance, that He would be with the disciples as they stepped out in faith to do this great work! Matthew 28:18-20 says, “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
To know Jesus is with us and that we are never alone is more than simply a biblical truth; for the born again believer, it is an ever present reality! Wow! Sure there may be times when we feel distant from God, that we wonder where He is. But deep inside every true believer is the constant reality of a changed life, a transformed heart, the indwelling Presence of Christ! God is always with us! It is the most incredible thing!
There is so much more I could say on this topic of never being alone when Jesus is with us, but today I want to consider the effects in our lives of God being with us. There are so many biblical characters that God was with. Here are a few Scriptures to consider …
“The LORD was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.” Genesis 39:2 “The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The LORD was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.” Genesis 39:23 “Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and He fulfilled everything Samuel prophesied.”
I Samuel 3:19 “David continued to succeed in everything he did, for the LORD was with him.”
1 Samuel 18:14 “The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed him and his entire household.” II Samuel 6:11
Speaking of Jesus, Luke 2:40 says, “There the child grew up healthy and strong. He was filled with wisdom, and God’s favor was on him.” When God is with you, He is also for you! When God is with you, He will make a way for you! When God is with you, things that hold you down begin to get shaken up! When God is with you, the things that hold you back begin to get shaken loose! God does things to show the world that He is with you!
Joseph succeeded in all he did because God was with him. Samuel, David, Obed Edom, all experienced breakthrough because God was with them. And of course, Jesus Himself “ … grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52) because He was the Son of God!
Today I want to encourage you, God is with you and God is for you! Things might be tough for you right now, but I want to encourage you, you’re a child of the God who spoke the Universe into existence! He is with you! Thing will begin to change things as you continue to abide in Him.
John 15:17 says, “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you wish, and to you it will come to pass.” Something happens when God is with us! The God of miracles is with us! This Scripture reminds us that when God is with us, we can expect things to be different for us. We can expect God’s miracle intervention!
Now at this stage let me say, I’m not saying the Christian life will always be easy and I’m not preaching a life of ease. There is always a great price to pay to follow Jesus. But when God is with you, you carry something that breaks out beyond the evil of this world and brings blessing, life and change!
In Matthew 10:22 Jesus said, “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. ” The devil hates Jesus and all that He stands for and when you have Jesus, he will be at work to stir others up against you. The blessing and goodness of God on your life will stir people up to persecute you, but stay in a place of forgiveness because as you keep the right attitude breakthrough will come!
I like what Jesus said in Mark 10:29-30, “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel, will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields–along with persecutions–and in the age to come eternal life.”
Here Jesus encapsulates it all, there is a sacrifice to follow Him, there is great blessing, there is persecution and then most importantly there is eternal life. When God is with us there may be times when we will experience the pain of separation from loved ones, when will pay a price, we will see mighty breakthroughs, we will be persecuted, and then when this life is over we will walk on streets of gold. There will be times of difficulty and times of incredible blessing!
Today, you may be feeling alone, deserted by God, you may be going through the toughest of times, you may be struggling and up against many challenges, I want to encourage you … God is with you! He will never leave you or forsake you! Breakthroughs and miracles follow those who carry His presence and glory. Don’t give up, a miracle is coming your way because God is with you!
